THE AGC:
The Associated General Contractors, Las Vegas Chapter is a nonprofit
construction trade association of some 650 member companies, both union and open
shop, throughout the Las Vegas valley. AGC assists member companies with
insurance benefits, safety programs, labor relations, public relations and
networking opportunities, legislative involvement, representation and training
education programs and community service projects. Some of the many career
options to be explored within the construction industry include architecture,
construction management, general contracting, subcontracting, building trades,
estimating, engineering and much more. If you have an interest in building a
career out of the opportunities available within the construction industry, then
this scholarship can be a tremendous asset.
THE AWARD:
AGC will award a $12,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from a high
school located within Clark, Nye, Esmeralda or Lincoln counties. AGC’s
Scholarship Committee will review all applications received by deadline and
select the student who exemplifies leadership, integrity, creativity, dedication
and studiousness along with a desire to enter a career in construction.
Scholarship recipient must attend eight consecutive
semesters at an accredited four-year college or university beginning the fall
after high school graduation. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of
scholarship monies. The AGC scholarship board may waive this requirement should
extenuating circumstances warrant.
THE STEPS:
1. Complete the enclosed scholarship application and other requirements and
return to AGC c/o Mandi Lindsay, 150 N. Durango Drive, Suite 100 - Las Vegas,
Nevada 89145, on or before the April 4, 2008 deadline. Applications may also be
hand delivered to this location. Absolutely no late applications will be
accepted.
2. Finalists will be required to interview with the AGC
scholarship committee, and will be notified either by mail or telephone on or
about May 25, 2008. Interviews will be conducted within two weeks of
notification.
3. Finalists will be notified of the AGC scholarship
committee’s decision by mail on or around June 21, 2008.

items for the Michael T. Martin Silent Auction held at AGC's annual Holiday
